Abstract

The objectives of this research were to describe the implementation of pictures as a media to improve students’ ability in writing simple present at the eleventh-grade students of SMK Negeri 2 Salatiga in the Academic Year 2023/2024 and to identify how far is the improvement of the students’ ability in writing simple present after the implementation of pictures media. The research used classroom action research. The subject of the research was 36 students of XI TKP C students of SMK Negeri 2 Salatiga. This action research consisted of two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection in each cycle. The data are in the forms of observation sheets and scores of pre-tests and post-tests. The result of the research showed that the students could develop their ideas to produce a descriptive text with better vocabulary, sentence structure, punctuation, and capitalization. They also enthusiastically joined the teaching and learning activities. Based on the calculation of the post-test in cycle I, 47.2% of students passed the Minimum Mastery Criterion- Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM). In cycle II, there were 91.6% of students that passed the Minimum Mastery Criterion- Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM). The data indicates that the implementation of pictures media improved the students' writing skills in the simple present tense.
