Abstract

This study aims: to find out students’ perceptions on the use of problem-based learning model in reading comprehension at Ganesha Operation learning course Salatiga and to find out the strength and weaknesses of problem-based learning model used in reading comprehension at Ganesha Operation learning course Salatiga. This study applies data analysis using qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection techniques used by researcher was observations, interviews and documentation. The subject of this research was ten students of Ganesha Operation learning course Salatiga. The results of the research showed that: 1) Students’ perceptions about the use of problem-based learning model in reading comprehension was students are able to freely display their solutions to a problem as well as their ideas for solving the problem when interactive model are applied. 2) The strength of the use of problem-based learning model in reading comprehension was improve student's ability to effectively solve problems, effective communication between participants, and contributes to an overall improvement in the academic performance of the students. 3) The weaknesses of the use of problem-based learning model in reading comprehension was requires a significant amount of time to comprehend.
