Abstract

The research is about enhancing the students’ English speaking ability in Office Management and Business Services (MPLB study program) 3 of SMKN 1 Salatiga through personal experience sharing. This research will answer these main question (1) How is the implementation of personal experience sharing to enhance students’ English speaking ability at eleventh grade MPLB study Program of SMKN 1 Salatiga? (2) How significant is the implementation of personal experience sharing in enhancing students’ English speaking ability at eleventh grade MPLB study Program of SMKN 1 Salatiga? The material given to the students was speaking in the context of recount text. The object of this research is the students of the third (3) class MPLB study program of SMKN 1 Salatiga which consist of 35 students. The methodology of this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). It is conducted in two cycles. There is planning, action, observation, and reflection in each cycle. The sharing of personal experiences proved effective in enhancing students’ speaking abilities, as evidenced by observation results and tests. The test apllied by sharing personal expereriences among students in groups, simulating authentic conversations. Improvement was evident from Cycle I to Cycle II, with the test’s means increasing from 78.51 to 83.03. Over 80% of students exceeded the minimum criteria (KKTP). T-test results across Cycles I and II (3.31, respectively) indicated a significant improvement, surpassing T-table values of 2.03. In conclusion, applying personal experience sharing significantly enhances English speaking abilities at eleventh-grade MPLB 3 students at SMKN 1 Salatiga.
