Abstract

This research aimed to determine students' achievements in vocabulary mastery before and after being taught using the Scattergories Game and how effective the use of Scattergories Game could improve students' vocabulary mastery at MTs Al Bidayah Bandungan. Researcher used a pre-experimental study with a one-group pre-test and post-test design, with the subjects focused on eighth - class students at MTs Al Bidayah Bandungan of the 2023/2024 academic year, consisted of 28 students as the total sample. The results of this research showed that the average of post-test was higher than the average of pre-test, with the average result of post-test was 88.39285714 and pre-test was 55 (88.39285714 > 55), with the conclusion that student achievement indicated an increase in average score of 37.78% after using the Scattergories Game. The effectiveness of using Scattergories Game with the result of N-gain test was 0.607, indicated by the t-test value is higher than t-table value 25.439 > 2.052. With the conclusion that there was a significant difference in vocabulary mastery before and after they are taught using the Scattergories Game. The Scattergories Game was effective to increase vocabulary mastery in MTs Al Bidayah Bandungan.
