Abstract

Watsiqoh, Dian Silvia. 2023. A Comparative Study Between Sanguine and Phlegmatic Students in Their Listening Skills at Eleventh-Grade Students Of Smk N 1 Tuntang Academic Year 2023/2024. Graduating Paper. English Education Department. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. State Islamic University of Salatiga. Counselor: Dr. Setia Rini, S.Pd., M.Pd. The purpose of this study was to compare the English listening test abilities of eleventh grade students with sanguine and phlegmatic personalities. As a consequence, this study initially evaluated the personalities of eleventh grade students before testing their listening skills. This type of quantitative research was then analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics to process data from 59 eleventh grade students because they were considered to have good emotional stability at SMK N 1 Tuntang as respondents consisting of students with sanguine and phlegmatic personalities. According to the findings, 23 students had a sanguine personality with an average score of 72.96 and a standard deviation of 14.5, while 36 students had a phlegmatic personality with an average score of 71.11 and a standard deviation of 9.5, indicating that they both performed well. To test the hypothesis of differences, the separated variance formula of t-test is used, and based on the results of test research on the listening test scores of students with Sanguine and Phlegmatic personalities, tcount (0.54) < ttable (2.0025) indicates that there is no significant difference in the listening test scores of eleventh-grade students at SMK N 1 Tuntang between those with Sanguine and Phlegmatic personalities. Keywords: Personality, Temperament, Sanguine, Phlegmatic, Listenining.
