Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find out the students' profile of reading comprehension before and after being taught using Kahoot application and to find out the results of the use of Kahoot to teach students' reading comprehension in the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 5 Salatiga. This study is a quantitative research with True-experimental research design method. The subjects in this study took two classes in the eighth grade at SMP Negeri 5 Salatiga, totaling 60 students. The samples taken totaled 60 students, of which 30 eighth grade students served as the experimental class and 30 students as the control class. The sample used random sampling technique. The data in this study were tested using the T-test formula by comparing the average scores of the pre-test and post-test of the two classes. The findings showed that the average score of the pre-test (57) was lower than the average score of the post-test (74.83). Then, the students' mean score increased by 17.83 points after being taught with Kahoot application. The result on the T-test (to) 11.5 shows higher than the T-table (tt) 2.0452 with the degree freedom (df) 29. Based on the calculation of statistical analysis, the result of the N-gain score is 0,41 in the medium category, and the T-test value is 11.5. It means that there is a significant difference in students' reading comprehension before and after being taught using Kahoot application in class VIII students of SMP Negeri 5 Salatiga.
