Abstract

Graduating paper, English Education Department, Teacher, and Education Faculty, Salatiga State Islamic University (UIN) Salatiga Counselor: Faizal Risdianto, S.S M.Hum This Research is about teacher strategies in using Ice-breaking to create a positive learning environment a study on fourth-grade students’ of MI MA’ARIF MANGUNSARI Salatiga. The subject of the study is (1) how the use of ice-breaking can create a positive learning environment for students in the fourth grade of MI MA’ARIF MANGUNSARI Salatiga. (2) what are the advantages and disadvantages of using ice-breaking to create a positive learning environment in the fourth grade of MI MA’ARIF MANGUNSARI Salatiga. This study used qualitative research, with a descriptive method. This research explains how ice-breaking can influence students' enthusiasm for learning English. This research also explains the importance of ice-breaking in creating a positive learning environment. The researcher found that many types of ice-breaking are yel-yel, singing, body movement, etc. This study found some advantages and disadvantages in ice-breaking, its advantage is that it brings a pleasant impact in the class while its disadvantage is time-consuming.
