Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find the perceptions of eleventh grade students at SMK N 1 Bawen about the students’ advantages and disadvantages of using the shadowing technique, and the students’ challenge of using the shadowing technique in learning English pronunciation. The research of this study used qualitative method especially descriptive qualitative to find the students' perceptions of using shadowing technique,. Through qualitative method the data collection used in this research were interview, observation, and documentation. The subject were 31 students of eleventh grade students at SMK N 1 Bawen. The findings indicate that there are two types of perceptions expressed by students positive and negative perceptions. The efficiency of using the shadowing technique: the respondents said that the shadowing technique was an enjoyable technique to learn English pronunciation, and give positive impact for students' pronunciation after using this technique.. The negative perceptions students' experienced were that the shadowing technique was hard because sometimes the audio was quick, unclear, and lengthy, which made students feel bored.
