Abstract

Ratmi, Tri. 2023. The Students’ Perceptions And Motivation In Learning English Language During Covid-19 Pandemic A Study At The Ninth Grade In The Foundation Of ‘Aisyiyah Orphanage Tuntang Regency. A Graduating Paper, English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, State Islamic University Salatiga. Conselor: Dr.Sari Famularsih, S.Pd.I., M.A. The aim of this research is to find out about students' perceptions and motivation in learning English during the COVID-19 pandemic based on field research and reinforced by the theories of several figures. This is a ninth grade lesson from the Aisyiyah Orphanage Foundation in Semarang Regency. In this research, researchers used a qualitative descriptive approach. and the subjects of this research were 9th grade students at the Aisyiyah Tuntang girls' orphanage madrasah. The data in this research was collected through interview methods and documentation as evidence that the interviews had been carried out. From the results and discussion, based on questions consisting of perception and motivation, it can be concluded that students' motivation in learning English based on these results can be observed that students are quite interested in learning English. Meanwhile, based on students' perceptions, online English learning is less effective due to several factors that make students less likely to understand English learning.
