Ulya, Alya Khasanatul. 2024. The Students’ Ability to Use English Idiomatic Expression In International Class Program at Fourth Semester of UIN Salatiga In The Academic Year 2023/2024. Graduating paper, English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, State Islamic University of Salatiga. Councelor: Noor Malihah., M.Hum., Ph.D. This research aims to investigate the students’ ability to use English idiomatic expression. The objectives of the research were, (1) to know the ability of the fourth semester student of ICP to use English idiomatic expression, (2) to know the difficulties do students of ICP face while learning idiomatic expressions. Mixed method was used in conducting this research. The data was collected through tests and interviews with ten respondents of the fourth-semester students of ICP 2022 at UIN Salatiga. They were choosen using judgment sampling. The findings of this research demonstrate that the ability of the fourth-semester students of ICP 2022 to use English idiomatic expressions is at a very poor-to-fair level. The students have difficulty using the English idiomatic expression. There are four difficulties found when students study English idiomatic expressions: English idiomatic expressions are not the same as literal meaning, English idiomatic expressions are rarely used in daily life, they have difficulty knowing when the idiom is used, and they have difficulty remembering the meaning of idioms. Therefore, students' ability to use English idiomatic expressions is still low because students still have many difficulties when learning English idiomatic expressions.
