Abstract

Nurul Malikhah. 2024. The Correlation Between Teachers’ Classroom Management and English Students’ Motivation:A Study at The Eighth Grade of MTs Al Uswah Bergas. A Graduating Paper. English Education Department. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. State Islamic University Salatiga. Conselor: Norwanto, S.Pd., M.Hum., Ph.D. The study aims to determine the significant correlation between the teachers’ classroom management and English students’ motivation in the eighth grade of MTs Al Uswah Bergas. The population of this research was the eighth-grade students of MTs Al Uswah Bergas, with 29 samples that were selected using a simple random sampling technique. The method used in this research was the quantitative method in correlation design. The instrument used two questionnaires to measure teachers’ classroom management and students’ motivation. Both data were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment formula to correlate teachers’ classroom management and students’ motivation. The result showed that the teachers’ classroom management in the eighth grade of MTs Al Uswah Bergas was good, with the mean score of 78.75. Meanwhile, the mean score of students’ motivation in learning English was 70.89, which is classified as high. Furthermore, there was a significant correlation between teachers’ classroom management and students’ motivation. It was supported by the r analysis (0.717), which was higher than the r table by 5% (0.367) and 1% (0.470), which means H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. It can be concluded that there was a very high correlation between teachers’ classroom management and English students’ motivation at the eighth grade of MTs Al Uswah Bergas.
