Abstract

SHO'IMAH, KHABIBATUS. 2023. The Words Collocation In Advertisement, The Use And Creativity. A Graduation Paper. English. Education Department. Islamic University Salatiga. Conselor: Dr. Sari Famularsih, S.Pd.I., M.A. Language is intrinsically connected to the human condition. It is the only instrument that individuals use to communicate with another, however communication can become ineffective due to a variety of causes. One of these elements is collocation. A word or a statement that have collocation might have different meaning. This phenomenon may be observed in a range of written works, including newspapers, poetry, Songs, letters, and slogans, in addition to spoken communication. This research discussed about grammatical collocation in the online advertisement, which included 8 types they were noun+ preposition, noun+ to infinitive, noun+ that-clause, preposition+ noun, and adjective + preposition, adjective+ to-infinitive, adjective+ that-clause, and 19 verb patterns. Grammatical collocation is very important to students. By knowing it they will get easier to understand about how to combine the word and also to make the sentence more variety. This research was library research. The data sources were taken from online advertisement. The research instruments were the document articles and the researcher because the researcher was the one who was able to observe the object of analysis. The data was analyzed by the researcher is the words of advertisement. To analyzed types of grammatical collocation, the researcher used theory by Benson and Ilson. The researcher found five types from all of the types of lexical collocation in the online advertisement are, adjective + noun (type 1) = 5 items, verb + noun (type 2) = 4 items, noun + verb (type 3) = 3 items, and noun + noun (type 6) = 2 items. The researcher analyzed all of the types but when researcher do investigation, researcher not found two of types of lexical collocation are: adverb + adjective (type 4), and verb + adverb (type 5).
