Abstract
The aims of this research are to find out the types and function of Code Mixing used by teacher and students in SMP N 3 Tengran. The methodology of this study was descriptive qualitative research. The techniques of collecting data were observing and analyzing the interactions of teacher and student in SMP N 3 Tengaran. The purposes of this study are (a) To find out the types of Code Mixing used by Teachers and Students in SMP N 3 Tengaran (b) To find out what is the function of using Code Mixing by Teachers and Students in SMP N 3 Tengaran. This research is qualitative research. The subjects of this study are teachers and students at SMP N 3 Tengaran. Observation used to collected data. Data were analyzed from analyzing the activity of English teachers and students during learning process. These findings indicate the kinds of Code Mixing are (1) Insertional Code-Mixing, (2) Alternational Code-Mixing, (3) Congruent Lexicalization Code-Mixing There are 6 function found during learning process, namely (1) Code-mixing as a teaching method, (2) Facility of expression, (3) Message qualification, (4) Repetition for clarification, (5) Addressee specification, (6) Personalization and objectivization.
