Abstract

The aims of this study were (1) to find the significant influence of Reading Comprehension on Writing Ability in Analytical Exposition Texts and (2) to find the contribution of Reading Comprehension on Writing Ability in Analytical Exposition Texts. This is a quantitative research study using random sampling. The subjects of this study were the tenth grade students of SMA N 2 Salatiga in the Academic Year 2023/2024. Research data were collected through tests and analyzed using SPSS version 29.0. The findings revealed that: 1) The correlation analysis indicated a significant influence, with the calculated r value (0.836) was higher than the r table value (0.325) with N = 37 and a significance value of 0.001. Therefore, Ho1 is rejected and Ha1 is accepted, indicating a significant influence of reading comprehension on writing ability in analytical exposition texts. 2) Regarding the contribution, the r square result was 0.7, indicating that reading comprehension contributes 70% to writing ability in analytical exposition texts. The contribution is significant because the t-count is 9.030, which is greater than the t-table value of 2.030 (t count > t table). The increase in reading comprehension is followed by an increase in writing ability, as indicated by the formula Y = 35.215 + 0.506X. The positive value of b (0.506) indicates that an increase in reading comprehension contributes to an increase in writing ability.
