Abstract
This research, using qualitative methods and Geoffrey Leech's politeness analysis, aims to analyze, identify, and explore the principles of politeness in "Frozen 2" through Queen Elsa's speeches. Data is collected via document analysis and analyzed qualitatively-interpretively as per Van Manen (2021). The results show that Elsa employs the Tact Maxim by considering others' feelings, the Generosity Maxim by taking on risks, the Approbation Maxim by praising Anna, the Modesty Maxim by downplaying her achievements, the Agreement Maxim by seeking consensus, and the Sympathy Maxim by showing empathy. The analysis identified 13 instances of Tact, 6 of Generosity, 5 of Approbation, 4 of Modesty, 8 of Agreement, and 4 of Sympathy. The implication of this research for English Language Learners: Understanding Pragmatics and Politeness in English, Practical Application, and Cross-Cultural Communication.
