Abstract

Wati, Ambar. 2024. The Use Of Board Game To Improve Students’ Speaking Skills For The Twelfth Grade Students’ Of MAN 2 Semarang In The Academic Year Of 2023/2024. A graduating Paper. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. English Education Department. Salatiga State Islamic University. Counselor: Betari Irma Ghasani, M.Pd. The objectives of this research were: (1) To find out how the implementation of board games improves students' speaking skills in twelfth grade at MAN 2 Semarang in the academic year 2023/2024. (2) To find out how far the improvement of students' achievement of speaking skills after implementing the board game in twelfth grade at MAN 2 Semarang. This research used a Classroom Action Research design. The research was done in two cycles. Each cycle involves four steps: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. After implementing a board game, the researcher used Pre-Test and Post-Test to assess the improvement of the students' speaking skills. The research subjects included 23 students from XII IPS 2 at MAN 2 Semarang. Two types of data collection techniques were used in this research: quantitative and qualitative. The results show that students' speaking skills have increased from cycles I to II. The result of the T-Test of cycle I was 10,58, and cycle II was 11,95. The passing grade of the English lesson was 75, and the success indicator was 75%. The result of cycle two was 87% of the total number of students. The success indicator has been achieved. This means that the implementation of board games was successful in improving students' speaking skills. Keywords: Board Game, Speaking Skills.
