Abstract

The purpose of this research is (1) To know the implementation of Webtoon as a media to improve students’ reading mastery at VII grade students of SMP NU Suruh. (2) To find out the result of using Webtoon as media improves students’ reading mastery at VII grade students of SMP NU Suruh. This research was conducted at SMP NU Suruh in Reksosari Village, Suruh District, Semarang Regency. The subject of this research is 23 VII grade students of SMP NU Suruh. The methodology of this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). Data were collected by observation, test, and documentation. The data validity technique is the triangulation technique. Researchers found that implementing Webtoon as media significantly improves students’ reading mastery. In Cycle 1, the average pre-test score rose from 59.34 to 73.91 in the post-test, while in Cycle 2, it increased from 71 to 83.34. There was an increase in the average student score of 14.57% in the first cycle and a rise of 12.34% in the second cycle.
