Abstract
This research aims to (1) to know the profile of students before and after using Mnemonic Music Technique to improve students’ vocabulary mastery and (2) to know the effectiveness of using mnemonic music techniques toward students ‘vocabulary improvement the seventh-grade students at MTs N 5 Boyolali in the academic year 2023/2024. This research used the Quasi-experimental method, which involved two groups as participants: the experimental group and the control group, each consisting of 32 students. The experimental group was taught using mnemonic music techniques, while the control group received the drilling technique. The second group underwent a pre-test to assess their initial word level, followed by an intervention period, and then a post-test to measure any improvement. This research revealed that the use of mnemonic techniques in learning has proven effective in improving students' vocabulary mastery. This is proven by the t-test results data, the t-test results showed that there was indeed a significant increase which could be seen from the pre-test and post-test results. This can be seen in the t-test results with a value of 3,341. The t-table with df 31 is 2,040. The N-Gain score value is 73.5169, so it is included in the effective category at the interval g > 0.7 at a high level. This technique not only improves their vocabulary scores but also positively influences their engagement, retention, retention, self-confidence, and overall attitude toward learning English. These findings indicate that the mnemonic music technique is an effective and enjoyable method for improving English vocabulary.
