Abstract

Nuria Indah, Postgraduate in English Education, State Islamic University (UIN) Salatiga, 2024, Title " IMPLEMENTATION OF BOTTOM-UP APPROACH IN TEACHING ENGLISH (Descriptive Qualitative Research at SMA Muhammadiyah (Plus) Salatiga in 2023/2024)” under the guidance of Hammam, Ph.D. The Bottom-Up Approach, as it pertains specifically to English language instruction, centers on the integration of language skills into meaningful and real contexts. It pushes students to become proficient in vocabulary and grammar norms as well as to apply these concepts in practical situations. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the Bottom-Up Approach is used in English instruction at SMA Muhammadiyah (Plus) Salatiga in the 2023–2024 academic year. This qualitative research employed descriptive qualitative study as its research design. The research's conclusions indicate that Senior High School Muhammadiyah (Plus) Salatiga's English language instruction is structured using a comprehensive methodology that incorporates a range of tactics. At SMA Muhammadiyah (Plus) Salatiga, the bottom-up approach to teaching English is being implemented through a careful and methodical process that includes planning, carrying out, and assessing the process. Senior High School Muhammadiyah (Plus) Salatiga's English language instructors evaluate their pedagogical technique, which prioritizes a bottom-up approach to teaching English. The results of this study have applications in the fields of interactive activity design, novel material development, and lesson integration with technology. The study also examines the perspectives and experiences of educators, providing insightful knowledge on the practical effects of adopting this novel teaching approach.
