Abstract

This study investigated the teacher's role in implementing the Merdeka curriculum for learning English at SMP Negeri 2 Sragen, impact of implementing the Merdeka curriculum for learning English, level of school readiness in implementing the Merdeka curriculum, and teachers experience the obstacles in implementing the Merdeka curriculum for learning English. The participants of the study were teacher, headmaster, and vice headmaster. This is qualitative research. The data collections were taken from interview and document analysis. Steps are interview teacher, headmaster, and vice headmaster in the field of curriculum and analysing learning documents (KOS SMPN 2 Sragen) according to the research title. The data analysis was undertaken using Creswell (2012). The finding showed the roles of the teacher were as facilitator and motivator. Teacher training was provided, but some facilities are not sufficient the teacher was not ready to implement Merdeka Curriculum.
