Abstract
The integration of sustainable development into the financial sector has led to the popularity of sustainable finance in recent years. One of the goals of sustainable finance is to generate long-term value that provides economic and societal benefits without burdening the environment. However, on the other hand, there is a potential negative impact on societal welfare with sustainable finance policies (Fuest & Meier, 2023). This threatens investor engagement in sustainable finance, particularly in the face of issues and challenges related to greenwashing. This is due to the slow progress of sustainability reporting standards and monitoring systems (In & Schumacher, 2021) in keeping up with sustainable finance growth.
