Abstract

Thinker and historian Islamic economic Taqī al-Dīn Abū al-Abbās Aḥmad bin Alī bin Abdul al-Qādir bin Muḥammad al-Maqrīzī wrote the book Ighathat alummah bi-Kashfi al-ghummah, discussing the history and function of dinar and dirham money , reasons for using money, and his recommendations for overcoming the monetary problems and hyperinflation that occurred in his time. The results of the study indicate that to overcome the problem of inflation that occurs, namely by returning dinars and dirhams as currency, because only dinars and dirhams are the most ideal and stable currency and can be accepted as a standard of value, both according to law, logic and tradition. However, can using "return to the dinar and dirham currency" be a solution to address Indonesia's current monetary problems? Research using qualitative descriptive analysis method aims to dissect the contents of the book.
