Abstract
This study aims to explore students' perceptions towards the use of rewards in learning English motivation at SMP N 4 Salatiga during the academic year 2023/2024. Understanding how rewards impact students' motivation can provide valuable insights for educators seeking to foster a more engaging and productive learning environment. Research method employed in this study is descriptive qualitative, which aims to provide a detailed and in-depth understanding of students' perceptions towards the use of rewards in learning motivation. Data were collected through non-participant observation and semistructured interviews. This combination of methods provided a comprehensive view of the topic, capturing both the observable actions and the personal insights of the students. The findings indicate that students generally perceive rewards positively, associating them with increased motivation and a greater willingness to participate in classroom activities. The researcher found positive perceptions from 15 informants who said that giving rewards can motivate students to learn English. Keywords : Students’ perception, Learning motivation, Rewards
