Abstract

ABSTRACT Pramesti, Rilia Dian. 2024. Improving English Vocabulary Mastery Through Sing-Along Activities in Listening Class (A Classroom Action Research for 8th-grade Students at SMP Islam Al-Azhar 18 Salatiga in the Academic Year 2024/2025). A graduating paper. Teacher Training and Education Department. Salatiga State Islamic University. Counselor: Dr. Aprilian Ria Adisti, S.Pd., M.Pd. The objectives of this study were: (1) To find out how the implementation of sing-along activities for listening class to improves English vocabulary mastery among 8th-grade students at SMP Islam Al-Azhar in the academic year 2024/2025. (2) To find out how far is the improvement of students' English vocabulary mastery after implementing sing-along activities in 8th-grade students at SMP Islam Al-Azhar in the academic year 2024/2025 The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design in two cycles, with stages of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Pre-tests and post-tests were used to measure vocabulary improvement. The study involved 25 students from class 8B. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected. Results showed a significant improvement in vocabulary mastery between Cycle I and Cycle II. In Cycle I, 56% of students met the minimum score, but by Cycle II, 100% of students had passed the minimum score of 80. The average score rose from 67.5 to 74.24. This indicates that sing-along activities effectively improved students' vocabulary mastery. Keywords: Sing-Along Activities, Vocabulary Mastery
