Abstract
Nanti, Arti Erwien Kurnia. 2024. Analysis Of Representative Illocutionary Act And Contextual Utterances Used By The Characters In The Movie 'Raya And The Last Dragon'. A Graduating Paper. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. English Education Department. State Islamic University (UIN) Salatiga. Conselor: Faizal Risdianto, S.S, S.Hum. This research was conducted to analyze the representative illocutionary act used by the characters in the movie Raya and the Last Dragon. This research aims to offer readers more than just entertainment; it also provides insights into the different types of representative illocutionary acts employed in the movie, namely representatives, to explore the contextual utterances within these representative illocutionary acts. The research used in qualitative descriptive approach and the data for this study are gathered through observation and documentation techniques. The data analysis with J. Searle and D. Vandervaken's (1985) speech acts theory According to the research findings, the movie "Raya and the Last Dragon" contained 100 representative speech acts. With a total of each: assert (20), claim (1), assure (3), rebut (2), inform (20), remind (1), predict (8), report (8), suggest (2), insist (1), conjecture (1), guess (1), admit (4), confess (1), accuse (2), blame (4), criticize (2), complain (3), boast (1), lament (1), deny (7), affirm (1), and state (6).
