vi ABSTRACT Anis Istirokhah Ayu Purnaningtyas THE USE OF ICT IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING AND LEARNING: CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS (A STUDY OF ENGLISH TEACHER PROFESSION EDUCATION IN SEMARANG) Salatiga: Pascasarjana Universitas Islam Negeri Salatiga, 2024. Based on law of Indonesia No.14 2005 about Teacher and Lecturer mentioned that teacher is educators who deliver, develop, and transform the knowledge. As part of professionalism, one of a teacher's responsibilities is to continuously advance academic credentials and competencies in accordance with the advancement of science, technology, and the arts, or what is known as continuous professional development. There are many ways in developing teacher’s professionalism one of it is trough continuing professional development (CPD). In Indonesia, there are several programs as part of CPD, one of it is Teacher Profession Education or in indonesia is called Pendidikan Profesi Guru (PPG). One of the learning system in PPG training is the implementation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Learning and Teaching English (ELT). There are many challenges faced by teachers from many factors and they also has solutions as the temporary solutions. This research use qualitative method by selecting the respondent by demography, age, and graduation time. Spreading questionnaire and interview also observation to the media us in PPG. The validation of the data isusing triangulation method where we compare 3 method of collecting data and make the summary of teh result. The author recommend the teachers to make the challenges as the opportunity for self development and for the The Educational Personnel Education Institute or in Indonesia known as Lembaga Pendidikan Tenaga Kependidikan (LPTK) can add ICT training as a provision for teachers to teach using technology. Schools are also recommended for having better and enough ICT tools as their facility.
