Abstract
Abstract Choerudin, Rahmad. 2024. Students’ Strategies of Facing Difficulties in Writing Skill Using ChatGPT. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. English Education Department. State Islamic University (UIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Prof. Dr. Sa’adi, M.Ag. This qualitative study examines the strategies 6th-semester English Education students at UIN Salatiga use to overcome writing challenges with the AI tool ChatGPT during the 2023/2024 academic year. It identifies the difficulties students face, the underlying factors, and the strategies they employ to overcome these issues. The study reveals that while ChatGPT supports idea generation and provides immediate feedback, it sometimes produces content that lacks specificity and contextual relevance. Students have developed strategies to refine ChatGPT's outputs, including manual editing, leveraging Grammarly for grammar checks, and cross-referencing information with Google Scholar. The research highlights the potential of AI in education. Still, it emphasizes the necessity of AI literacy and critical evaluation skills to ensure the effective use of AI tools in the learning process.
