Abstract
The aims of this study are: (1) to find out the differences between students' writing on procedure text before and after taught using Genre-Based Approach with Digital Posters; (2) to find out the effectiveness of using Genre-Based Approach with Digital Posters in teaching writing procedure text. The researcher used the quantitative research method, which is a pre-experimental research. The experiment was carried out with only one group class of XI MPLB 2, consisting of 34 students. The researcher used the pre-test before treatment and the pre-test after treatment. The data in this research was analyzed using the t-test formula by comparing the average pre-test and post-test scores. The results showed that the pre-test mean score (66.47) was lower than the post-test mean score (77.64). These results showed an increase of 11.17 points. In addition, from the results of the t-test calculation on the data, the sig. (2-tailed) shows 0.000 < 0.05, meaning there is a significant difference in scores in students' writing ability score on procedure text before and after teaching using genre-based approach with digital posters. Meanwhile, from the calculation results, the t-test 15.246 > t-table 1.692, with degree of freedom (df) = 33. Based on the results of these calculations, the researcher concluded that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. It means that the use of genre-based approach with digital posters is effective in teaching writing on procedure text to students at SMKN 1 Salatiga.
