Abstract
Wulandari, Siska. 2023. “The Effectiveness of Using Rintik Sedu Podcast as a Medium to Improve Listening Skills at the Eighth Grade Students of MTs N 3 Boyolali.” A graduating paper, English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, State State Islamic University (UIN) Salatiga. Counsellor: Dr. Mashlihatul Umami, M.A. Keywords: Rintik Sedu Podcast; Learning Media; Listening Skills This study aims to find out the profile of students’ listening skill before and after using Rintik Sedu Pocast and to find out whether Rintik Sedu Podcast is effectively used as a medium to improve listening skills in eighth grade students of MTs N 3 Boyolali. The subject of this study was students of class VIII A and VIII B of MTs N 3 Boyolali. The data were tested using t-test and N-gain formula by comparing the score of both classes. The result showed that there are differences in mean scores in both experimental and control classes. In the experimental class the mean score of pre-test was 62.41 and the mean score of post-test was 77.04. While in the control class the mean score of pre-test was 62.04 and the mean score of post-test was 71.67. It can be seen that the mean score of the experimental class is higher than the control class. From the independent samples t-test result showed that t-test higher than t-table (2.048>2.006) and the P-value was 0.042<0.05, thus Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. It can be said that there is differences in students' listening skills after using the Rintik Sedu Podcast. While the result of N-gain score in the experimental class was 0.38, so the effectiveness of Rintik Sedu Podcast as a learning medium was classified as a medium category.
