Abstract

Rahma, Ghaniyya Wafda. 2024. Student’s Perception on Using Suggestopedia Towards Their Learning Confidence, Anxiety Reduction and Participation in Speaking Class Postgraduate Studies of State Islamic University (UIN) Salatiga Supervisor: Dr. Setia Rini, M. Pd. Keywords: Suggestopedia, Learner Confidence, Anxiety Reduction, Student Participation, English Speaking Class. This study aims to explore students' perceptions of the Suggestopedia method in enhancing their learning confidence, reducing anxiety, and increasing participation in speaking class activities. The research was conducted at MAN 2 Semarang, with 12 students interviewed to gather their insights. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection involved conducting interviews with the 12 students to capture their personal experiences and perceptions of how Suggestopedia influenced their speaking skills. The analysis of the interview data followed a structured approach, including data preparation, thematic analysis, and conclusion. The findings indicate that students perceive the Suggestopedia method as a valuable approach to boosting their confidence, reducing anxiety, and encouraging active participation in speaking class. The method's relaxing classroom environment, which includes soothing music and an engaging atmosphere, helps students feel more at ease, leading to increased engagement in speaking tasks. These perceptions suggest that Suggestopedia contributes to a positive and supportive learning experience, enhancing students' confidence and participation in English-speaking classes.
