Abstract
Ibramsyah, Muhammad Radjendra 2024. The Effectiveness of Using A Picture To Enhance Vocabulary Mastery. (True Experimental Research of Seventh Grade Students of SMP Islam Al-Azhar 18 Salatiga in the Academic Year 2024/2025). A Graduating Paper. English Education Department. Keywords : Picture, Vocabulary Mastery The aims of this study are: to find out the profile of student vocabulary before and after taught using picture, as well as the effectiveness of using a picture to class seventh grade students at SMP Islam Al Azhar 18 Salatiga during the academic year 2024/2025. The researcher used the quantitative research method which is a true-experimental research. The sample comprised of 25 students from class 7A, who were taught using the pictures, and 26 students from class 7C, who were taught using lecture method. The data in this research was analyzed using the t-test formula by comparing the average pre-test and post-test scores. The results showed that the pre-test mean score (63.60) was lower than the post-test mean score (83.40). These results showed an increase of 19.08 points. In addition, from the results of the t-test calculation on the data, the sig. (2- tailed) shows 0.000 < 0.05, which means there is a significant difference in scores in students' speaking ability on descriptive text before and after teaching by using pictures. Meanwhile, from the calculation results, the t-test 22.277 > t-table 2.064, with degree of freedom (df) = 25. The Ngain score obtained was 0.31, putting it in the medium category. The control group had an N-gain score of 0.23 with a low category in the interval 0 < g < 0.3 Based on the results of these calculations, the researcher concluded that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. It means that the use of pictures is effective in teaching speaking skills description text to students at SMP Islam Al-Azhar 18 Salatiga.
