Abstract

Rizqon, Muhamad. 2024. Informal Vocabulary Learning Through SEC (SMALHIK English Club) at SMA Al Hikmah Sirampog Brebes. A Graduating Paper. Teacher Training and Eduation Faculty. English Education Department. Salatiga State Islamic University. Counselor: Marisa Fran Lina, M.Pd This research was conducted to find out (1) how are vocabulary learning activities in SEC (Smalhik English Club) and (2) what are the advantages and disadvantages of SEC. This study used a descriptive qualitative research method. The subjects of the study were five SEC members and tutor who teach. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. This research found that (1) the vocabulary learning activities of SEC are very varied, such as storytelling, conversation, singing, and speech. Students can use extracurricular activities as a new learning medium to supports their English skills. (2) the advantages of English Club (SEC) are adding stuednts’ insight into English, training students’ ability to express English, got new vocabulary and helping students learn English skills. English Club (SEC) is recommended for other students to learn English vocabulary outside of formal classroom lessons.
