Abstract

This research aims to develop a multimodal digital learning media model using Google Sites to improve reading comprehension among 9th grade students at Ma'had Islam Junior High School Semarang for the 2024/2025 school year. The ultimate goal is to create an engaging and effective educational tool that caters to diverse learning styles, thereby improving students' comprehension ability in reading English narrative texts. This research focuses on understanding the educational needs of students and the challenges faced by teachers in implementing digital learning strategies. This study used a mixed methods approach within the framework of the Borg and Gall research and development model. The research was conducted at SMP Ma'had Islam Semarang, with a target sample of 15 grade 9 students for the small group trial, as well as an English teacher for the needs analysis. Data sources included surveys and interviews to gather insights into the current learning environment and curriculum gaps. Data collection techniques utilize structured questionnaires and interviews, to ensure the validity and reliability of the instruments used for quantitative research. The data analysis technique conduct thematic analysis to analyze the qualitative data to provide a comprehensive understanding of the findings that ultimately lead to the development of a robust digital learning media model that meets the identified educational needs.
