Abstract
The research use of English pop songs to improve listening skills of seventh grade students at SMPN 9 Salatiga at academic year 2024/2025. This research answered two questions: (1) How is the implementation of English pop songs to improve the listening skills of seventh grade students at SMPN 9 Salatiga in academic year 2024/2025. (2) How is the result of using English pop songs to improve the listening skills of seventh grade students at SMPN 9 Salatiga in academic year 2024/2025. The research used Classroom Action Research as the methodology. This classroom action research was conducted in two cycles involves four steps: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Each cycle consists two meeting. The subject this research were 32 students from class VII G students at SMPN 9 Salatiga in the academic year 2024/2025. The data of the research were collected through pre-tests, post-tests, observations, and documentation. The data showed that the students’ mean score in first cylce was 67,50 and the students’ mean score in second cycle was 88,75, and 81,25% of students successfully passed the minimum score. From the result of the research can be concluded that the using song can increase listening skills.
