Abstract
The Use of English Songs to Listening Mastery on Narrative Text (One-Group Experimental Research on the Eight Grade Students of SMP N 1 Bringin, Semarang in the Academic Year 2024/2025). A Graduating Paper. English Education Department. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. State Islamic University (UIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Dr. Ruwandi, S. Pd. M. A. The objective of the research are to analyze the differences in students' mastery of listening skills to narrative text before and after the use of English songs in the learning process at SMP N 1 Bringin. The main focus of this research is to identify whether there are significant changes in students' listening skills after the application of English songs as a learning tool. Researcher used a one-group experimental design with a quantitative method. The population of this research is the eighth grade students’ of SMP N 1 Bringin. The researcher selected 29 out of 33 students from class VIII F SMP N 1 Bringin using cluster sampling. To collect the data, researcher used a test method consisting of two tests, namely pre-test and post-test. The results show that the average value of the student pre-test is 73.45 with a standard deviation of 14.022 and the average value of the student post-test is 84.66 with standard deviation of 11.412, where it can be seen that there is an increase in the average value of students by 11.21 or an increase of 16.98%. The analysis using the paired sample t-test resulted in a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000, which is smaller than the significance level of 0.05. This means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, so it can be concluded that that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test result.
