Abstract
The purpose of this research is to investigate the implementation of confessional religious education in promoting social harmony among students of religion and religious plurality awareness of students in SMA and SMA I Magelang Magelang regency I Muntilan school year 2014/2015. This research is descriptively qualitative approach to the sociology of religion. Taknik data collection using observation, interviews, and documentation. The study concluded that SMA I Magelang and SMA I Muntilan Kabupatn Magelang confessional religious education and taught by a teacher who co-religionists. With the implementation of this confessional religious education, students are increasingly convinced of the truth of his religion and considers religion is a religion which believes that most benar.Realita plurality of religions, making students tolerant and respect other religions with the interaction soisial harmonious and conducive. Problematic teaching of religious education is confessional schools do not group students into classes based on religion, and schools do not have lab religion for religious minorities, as well as the schools do not have permanent teachers for religious minorities.
