Abstract
Rista, Mutiara Nanda. 2025. Describing Students’ Difficulties in Learning Reading Comprehension Using the Survey, Question, Read, Recite and Review SQ3R Method in Eleventh-Grade Students at SMA Negeri 1 Ampel Academic Year 2024/2025. A Graduating Paper. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. English Education Department State Islamic University (UIN) Salatiga Counselor. Dr. Setia Rini, M.Pd. This research focuses on analyzing students' difficulties in learning reading comprehension using the SQ3R method and factors that cause difficulties in eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Ampel. The purpose of this research is to find out the difficulties faced by eleventh-grade students in using the SQ3R method to learn reading comprehension, as well as the factors that influence these difficulties. The research method used was descriptive qualitative with data collection through observation, interviews with 36 students, and documentation at SMA Negeri 1 Ampel. The results showed that students faced difficulties in the determining idea, making inference, detail information, and understanding vocabulary. The most difficult thing for students is the step in the SQ3R method (Read) to determine the main idea. Then, the factors causing the students’ difficulties in reading comprehension such as students’ background knowledge, teacher’s technique, and students’ environment. The most influencing factor is the technique used by the teacher. Key Word: Students’ Difficulties, Reading Comprehension, SQ3R Method.
