Abstract
Kusuma, Elzandra. 2025. Students’ and Teachers’ Perceptions of the Reading Section in the ‘English for Nusantara’ Study Book, Graduating Paper. English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty. State Islamic University Salatiga. Counselor: Dr. Faizal Rizdianto, S.S., M. Hum. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach to explore how students and teachers perceive the ‘English for Nusantara’ study book, especially in terms of affective, cognitive, and conative aspects. Data was obtained through interviews and documentation with students and English teachers who used the book in class. Most students enjoy using the book because it is interesting, easy to understand, has attractive pictures, and includes games. Teachers also have a positive view, saying the book makes students more enthusiastic and serves as an beneficial extra learning material. Cognitively, many students find the reading passages easy, especially with the help of illustrations, but some struggle with new vocabulary and need help from dictionaries or teachers. Teachers think the book matches students’ abilities and is easy to use, but they prefer to use it together with other materials because the content is not deep enough. Both students and teachers agree that the book can support English learning, but they also mention challenges like difficult vocabulary, limited content depth, and time constraints. Overall, the ‘English for Nusantara’ study book is seen as engaging and useful, but it could be improved by adding more complete content and better integration with the curriculum. Key words: English for Nusantara, students’ perception, teachers’ perception, reading section, affective aspect, cognitive aspect, conative aspect, qualitative descriptive study, English textbook, reading comprehension, learning media.
