Abstract

This graduating paper is composed based on the result of Descriptive Analysis Research and the writer’s experiences during conducting research in Nurul Asna boarding school, Salatiga. This research has objectives to know the students’ perception, difficulties and solution in class uses Letter-U seating arrangement in the speaking class. The students have positive and negative perception about the seating arrangement. The research was conducted from 20 January until 3 February 2018. The data is collected from interview of 24 students of the third semester of IAIN Salatiga in the academic year of 2017/2018. The additional data was taken from classroom observation and documentation. Since this research explores the students' perception which come from the students' experiences, qualitative approach is considered as an appropriate approach. The result of this research is presented descriptively in order to reveal the students' perception comprehensively. It was found that in students' opinion, Letter-U seating arrangement had some impacts. Most of the students felt that the Letter-U seating arrangement makes them to have more confidence and experiences in speaking class. However, this research provides important evidence about the students’ perception about Letter-U seating arrangement toward students English-learning in IAIN Salatiga, and directions for further research are also suggested
