Abstract

Pesantren has made a remarkable achievement in curriculum integration since the modernization process in Pesantren system of education. This process as good indication how pesantren has been able to adapt and responsive to the current change. This research aims to know of curriculum integration in the subject of Islamic Education (PAI) in the curriculum of Vocational Education (SMK) within the tigh vocational curriculum distribution, the shortened school timing into 5 active days and four compulsory competent aspects. This qualitative research conducted in SMK-SPP Dharma Lestari, SMK Pancasila and SMK Al Falah. The data collection based on interview, observation and documentation, through purposive sampling with descriptive qualitative analysis. The writer concludes; (1) Integration planning starts from the establishment of school vision which later on translated into whole school curriculum system. (2) The implementation of curriculum integration based on the school and pesantren blueprints by integrating all aspect of education. (3) Existing supporting environtment of curriculum by integration both pesantren curriculum and vocational school curriculum and also the existing learning instructors assited by pesantren’s teachers which give subsequent impact in the continuity of pesantren learning program. Apart from integrative system, there were several obstacles in the process of integration, for example; 1) The extreme disparity of student basic religious knowledge, eg; reciting Qur’an, Arabic writing and muamalah observance, 2) The heavy teaching and learning activities, therefore seize the time of teacher-student accompaniment. 3) Most of learning instructors were from college fresh graduate with limited teaching experience.
