Abstract
The Research is mainly aimed to analysis the students’ error in using contable and uncountable nouns in writing decriptive text at the tenth grade SMK Muhammadiyah Salatiga in the Academic Year of 2018/2019. The subject of this research consists of 30 students in X TKR 3. The objective of the study are (1) to find the types of error that students make in forming countable and uncountable nouns in writing descriptive text. (2) to find out the causes that are made by students in forming countable and uncountable nouns in writing descriptive text. This resarch applies Qualitative approach with descriptive approach. The errors are collected identified and classified based on The Surface Structure Taxonomi(SST) that specifies three types of errors namely omission, addition and misformation. The result shows (1) the most frequent category of forming countable and ucountable nouns errors contributed by tudents of tenth grade of SMK Muhammadiyah Salatiga were misformation error with the frequency 48,83%, the second is omission error with the frequency 32,55%, and the lowest frequency of error was in addition error with the frequency 18,60%. (2) the errors implied that they did not master the form of countable and uncountable noun yet because they did not know the main rules in usingcountable and uncountable nouns and also they face difficultness in distinguish which are the countable noun and uncountable noun.
