Abstract

The objective of this study are: (1)To find out students’ reading habit of the eleventh grade students of MAN Tengaran in the academic year of 2017/2018. (2) To find out students’ oral reading fluency of the eleventh grade students of MAN Tengaran in the academic year of 2017/2018. (3) To verify whether there is a positive significant correlation between students’ reading habit and their oral reading fluency. The design of this research was correlational design. The subject of this research is XI MIA 1, which consists of 29 students. This research used questionnaire and test as the instrument of data collection. The result of this research are: (1) Based on the scores of the questionnaire given to the students, it can be stated that the students’ reading habit of the eleventh grade students of MAN Tengaran in the academic year of 2017/2018 is on fair level. (2) Based on the scores of the test given to the students, it can be stated that the students’ oral reading fluency of the eleventh grade students of MAN Tengaran in the academic year of 2017/2018 is on good level. (3) From the result of the statistical calculation, it can be synthesized that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.The calculation shows that the coefficient of correlation (rxy) between both variables is 0.57237 which is higher than rtable (0.572 > 0.367). The result of T test is that the T obtained is 3.63 which is higher than Ttable 1.703. It means that the correlation is significant. The contribution of reading habit toward reading fluency of the eleventh grade students of MAN Tengaran in the academic year 2017/2018 is 32.76% while the 67.24% factors are influenced by other factors.
