Abstract

The Islamization of knowledge was initiated by al-Attas and al-Faruqi departing from differentprepositions. Al-Attas is departing from rampant Westernization of science which is separated fromreligion and morality and also consumed and developed consciously or unconsciously by mostmuslim scholars. And al-Faruqi is departing from the malaise of Muslims in general and he wantedto raise his project of the Islamization of knowledge. This idea is to bring change in the world ofscience and scientific institutions of Islam. But the changes must still be stepped towards its practicaldimension worldwide, spawned indigeneuos knowledge that comes from the Islamic roots andthought, and the result is a product and product identity that the world knew it as a worldlycontribution of Islamic scientists in the modern era.
