Faqih, Wildan Munirul. 2019. A Descriptive Analysis Of Students Comprehension On Absolute Construction In English Academic Writing. A Graduating Paper. English Education Department. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. State Institute for Islamic Studies Salatiga. Counselor: Norwanto, S.Pd., M.Hum., Ph.D. The study aims are to know How is the profile students’ comprehension of absolute construction in English academic writing skills in the seventh-semester students of English Department of IAIN Salatiga in the academic year of 2019/2020 and to find out the challenges students faced off in comprehending absolute construction in academic writing in the seventh-semester students of English Department of IAIN Salatiga in the academic year of 2019/2020. The methodology of research was qualitative research especially descriptive qualitative. While the procedure of collecting data involved one step, the writer would lead and collect the data from questionnaire. Then the writer classified and analyzed those data. The result of this study consist of; 73% students had dominant on comprehend absolute construction with participle without be –being and having been, 66% students used time expression, 60% students used possible meaning, students used participle be –being and having been 13%, students used participle –ing 46%, students used present participle indicating present time 40%, students used present participle indicating past time 6%, students used past participle indicating past time 26%, students used possible meaning of cause 33%, students used possible meaning of condition 33%, and from all those 15 students can’t understand the absolute construction clearly.
