Improving Students’ Listening Skills by Using Running Dictation (Classroom Action Research of the Eighth Year Students of SMP Negeri 4 Ungaran in the Academic Year of 2019/2020). A Graduating Paper. Counselor: Dr. Ruwandi, S.Pd., M.A The objectives of the study are: (1) To know the implementation of running dictation to improve students’ listening skills of the eighth year students of SMP Negeri 4 Ungaran in the academic year of 2019/2020. (2) To know the improvement of students’ listening skills by using running dictation of the eighth year students of SMP Negeri 4 Ungaran in the academic year of 2019/2020. The research design of this study was Classroom Action Research. It was conducted in 2 cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this research are the students of VIII D class of SMP Negeri 4 Ungaran. The researcher found that the implementation of running dictation to improve students’ listening skills of the eighth year students of SMP Negeri 4 Ungaran in the academic year of 2019/2020 was successful. During the teaching-learning process, students looked pay attention, active in respond the questions from the teacher, accomplished the tasks, and also enthusiastic in running dictation. In addition, there was a significant improvement of students’ listening skills. It can be shown in the mean of students’ score of pre-test in cycle I and cycle The mean of pre-test in cycle II (72.50) is higher than the mean of pre-test in cycle I (67.86). Then, the mean of post-test in cycle II (93.93) is higher than in cycle I (84.46). The calculation of the t-test in cycle I and cycle II increased. The t-test of the cycle II (5847) is higher than the t-test of cycle I (3997). The quantity (N) of this research is 28 and the t-table (N-1) is 2052. In the cycle I, the t-test is higher than t-table (3997 > 2052). While in the cycle II, the t-test is also higher than t-table (5847>2052). So, the researcher concluded that there was a significant improvement of students’ listening skills by using running dictation of the eighth year students of SMP Negeri 4 Ungaran.
