Sajidah. 2019. THE DIFFERENCES IN PRONOUNCING ENGLISH PLOSIVE CONSONANT BETWEEN INDONESIAN AND THAI UNDERGRADUATES STUDENT OF ENGLISH EDUCATION DEPARTMENT OF IAIN SALATIGA. Counselor: FaizalRisdianto, S.S., M.Hum Keyword: English Plosive Consonant. Pronunciation In pronouncing English plosive consonant the differences are happened. This research investigates the differences between Thai and Indonesian undergraduates student in pronouncing English plosive consonant. The objective of this research were: to know the differences in pronouncing English plosive consonant between Indonesian and Thai undergraduates and to know the factor which is influence it. The study adopted a qualitative research. The study was conducted at IAIN Salatiga, involving 5 undergraduates of Thai who are from Pattani and 5 undergraduates of Indonesian who are from Central Java. Data is collected through documentation and interview. Documentation is conducted by recording respondents? pronunciation. The recording is analyzed and combined with interview report. From the analysis, it is found that the differences and similarities of Thai and Indonesian undergraduate students are there is aspiration of Thai students in pronouncing [p, t, k] substitution of /b/ sound to be /p/ sound, /d/ sound to be /t/ sound and /g/ sound to be /k/ sound in final syllable. It is influenced by the geographic dialect.
