Abstract

ABSTRACT Abdurrizal, Muhammad. 2019. The use of Questioning Technique by Using Short Video to Improve students’ Speaking Skills ( A Classroom Action Research for the second-year Student of SMA ISLAM SUDIRMAN Ambarawa). A Graduating Paper, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, English Education Department, State Institute for Islamic Studies Salatiga. Counselor: Mrs. Sari Famularsih, S.Pd.I., M.A Key Words: Questioning Technique, Short Video, Speaking skills. The researcher used The use of Questioning Technique and Short video to Improve students’ speaking skills. The objectives of this research were (1) How to apply the questioning technique and using short video to improve the students’ speaking skill for the eleventh grade students of SMA ISLAM SUDIRMAN Ambarawa in the academic year 2019/2020, (2) How is the result by the use of questioning technique and short video to improve the students' speaking skill for the eleventh grade students of SMA ISLAM SUDIRMAN Ambarawa in the academic year 2019/2020. The research was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. By the data analysis, it was showed that we found significant improvement. The result of Questioning Technique by using short video to improve student speaking showed the significant improvement. It can be seen by the percentage of students who passed the passing grade that is from 15% on pre-test increase to 40% on post-test in the Cycle I and from 60% on pre-test increase to 90% on post-test in the Cycle II. The improvement of students’ speaking skills can be seen by the score of the pretest and post-test which is increase in each cycle. The mean in cycle I increased from 53.00 to 63.40 and in the cycle II increased from 70,20 to 74,80. Based on that, it can be conclude that improving students’ speaking skills through Questioning Technique with short video (classroom action research for the eleventh grade student of SMA ISLAM SUDIRMAN Ambarawa in the academic year of 2019/2020) was successful.
