Abstract

The foundation of implementation for Education of Religion di Highereducation was Decree of the Provisional People's Consultative Assembly No. l Iin 1960 (Rasjidi, 1992: 5). In its first application, Rasjidi was appointed to be theprofessor of Law and Institutions of Islam at the University of Indonesia (UI) in1968. Empat Kuliah Agama Islam pada Perguruan Tinggi was the work ofRasjidi that became the principal handbook for Islamic religious lecture in the UIat that moment. It is increasingly becoming attractive since M. Rasjidi was thefirst professor in the UI that came from pesantren with his western degree.This study was conducted to answer two problems. The first problem is tofind the method of Islamic religious education in the book of Empat KuliahAgama Islam pada Perguruan Tinggi by M. Rasjidi. The second problem is todetermine the relevance of the book with Islamic religious education in publicuniversities at this time.This research was a literature research with descriptive inductive analysis.All data has been reduced and carefully researched each case study is based on theconcept and in conjunction, so that it can build a complete synthesis.From the discussion that has been done, it is known that Rasjidi usedgradual method in his arrangement of the book. In his presentation, he usedmethods of Islamic educational through story, "ibralt, analogy, and tamthil. Inaddition, this paper also found that Empat Kuliah Agama Islam pada PerguruanTinggi consists contemporary issues that can be taught in the state university aswritten in the decision of the Director General of Higher Education Ministry ofNational Education Number 43 year 2006.
