Abstract

This thesis is descriptive quantitative research. The writer applies questionnaireto find the condition parents' socioeconomic status and applies result of the Englishachievement in the second semester test to find the significance relationship between theparents' socioeconomic status and English achievement of the first year students ofSMA N 3 Salatiga in the academic year 2008/2009.The result of research shows that the parents' socioeconomic status of the firstgrade students of SMAN 3 Salatiga in the academic year of 2008/2009 is high. It can beseen in the result of the analysis is 66,43 %. It means that students' parent haveprestigious occupation, have high level of education and also have high income to meetthe family need. In this research also shows that the students' English achievement inthe second semester of first grade of SMA N 3 Salatiga is high. It can bee seen in theresult of the analysis is 79,9 %. It means that the students' get good score in Englishsubject. Finally the result of research shows that there is not a different influence ofparents' socioeconomic status and students English achievement and there is not asignificant contribution between parents socioeconomic status and students' EnglishAchievment of the first year students of SMA N 3 salatiga in the academic year2008/2009
