Abstract

This study aims to explain the analysis the analysis of sociolinguistic aspectsof slang in the winter's Tale novel by William Shakespeare. The researchproblems of the study are the characteristic slang, kind of slang, andsociolinguistic aspects of slang in the Winter's Tale" novel. The purpose ofstudy are analyzing the characteristic of slang which included into TheWinter's Tale novel, explaining the kinds of slang, in word and phrase formin The Winter's Tale_novel and exploring the aspects of sociolinguistic whichhave influence in forming slang words in The Winter's Tale novel It usesqualitative naturalistic research. The writer uses Note taking technique or"simak tertulis" to collecting data and sociolinguistic approach by "Padan"method to analyze data of study The data sources taken from "The winter'sTale" novel and several references like, lnggris - Indonesia dictionary byJhon Elhols and Hassan Sadily, Kamus Slang Amerika_by Kesaint Blanc, andKamus Mini American Slang_by Hadiwinata. There were crucial fmding.Writer had found kinds of slang in "The winter's tale" by word and phraseformation and its characteristics.
